2012 N H State 4-H Market Lamb Show and Auction
Learn how to raise market lambs, how to choose your best market lamb to show and sell. Learn responsibility, livestock selection and nutrition, showing and fitting, recordkeping and good sportsmanship.
To participate in this program you need to be an enrolled 4-H member in NH and between the ages of 8-18 as of January 1, 2012.
The first marketing lamb tagging will be at the NH Sheep & Wool Festival which will be held at the Deerfield Fair Grounds on May 12, 2012.

2011 NH 4-H Market Lamb Show & Auction Participants
Last May fifteen youth tagged lambs, then kept records, raised and showed these lambs, thru the summer. At the Hillsborough County Agricultural Fair eleven lambs were shown, and nine blue ribbon lambs were sold in the auction. (The two red ribbon lambs sold in private sales).
The Champion lamb was owned by Madeline Zimmermann from Hancock, Reserve Champion went to Austin Grace from Alstead; Highly Commended went to Lexy Grace from Alstead and Commended went to Adele Towne from Lempster. The other participants were Jarrett and Sammy Patch, (Fitzwilliam), Lily Ciofrone (Hollis), Zack Moore (Haverhill), Erva Barnes (Piermont), Jesse Bosworth (Deerfield), and Jeffery Rainsville (Stoddard).
Special Awards
Jeffrey Rainville received the best record award.
Lexy Grace raised the highest selling lamb.
Adele Towne won the Rate of Gain honors.
Lightweight Champion went to Jarrett Patch with his bred and owned lamb and he also received one of the bred and owned awards sponsored by Ted Sartell.
Madeline Zimmermann won the heavyweight class with her lamb that she purchased from Dan Chute. Dan has participated in the program for several years and further developed his project into selling market lambs to other 4-H members. He had two of his bred and owned lambs in the sale and had tagged one for himself to sell, however he was not able to come back from college to participate.
The nine lambs sold for a total of $3,486 with the avarge lamb selling for $387.33. The avarge lamb weight 137 pounds.
