2012 N H State 4-H Market Lamb Show and Auction
Learn how to raise market lambs, how to choose your best market lamb to show and sell. Learn responsibility, livestock selection and nutrition, showing and fitting, recordkeping and good sportsmanship.
To participate in this program you need to be an enrolled 4-H member in NH and between the ages of 8-18 as of January 1, 2012.
The first marketing lamb tagging will be at the NH Sheep & Wool Festival which will be held at the Deerfield Fair Grounds on May 12, 2012.

2011 NH 4-H Market Lamb Show & Auction Participants
Last May fifteen youth tagged lambs, then kept records, raised and showed these lambs, thru the summer. At the Hillsborough County Agricultural Fair eleven lambs were shown, and nine blue ribbon lambs were sold in the auction. (The two red ribbon lambs sold in private sales).
The Champion lamb was owned by Madeline Zimmermann from Hancock, Reserve Champion went to Austin Grace from Alstead; Highly Commended went to Lexy Grace from Alstead and Commended went to Adele Towne from Lempster. The other participants were Jarrett and Sammy Patch, (Fitzwilliam), Lily Ciofrone (Hollis), Zack Moore (Haverhill), Erva Barnes (Piermont), Jesse Bosworth (Deerfield), and Jeffery Rainsville (Stoddard).

The 4-H Sheep Clinic revolves around the 4-H'ers and their sheep. Counselors, staff and volunteer guest speakers instruct the youth on fitting and showing as well as general management and care of their sheep.
"Best Fleece" & "Market Lamb" Blanket Program
For 29 years the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Growers Association have sponsored the "Champion Market Lamb" award at each of the 4-H shows at the New Hampshire Fairs. Recently, with the popularity of the wool breeds being shown, we have added the "Best Fleece" award.
